Chaibasa: In a significant administrative overhaul aimed at tightening governance and improving academic efficiency, Kolhan University has ordered a large-scale transfer and reassignment of principals, teachers, and administrative heads across its constituent colleges. The sweeping changes, implemented with immediate effect, have been carried out under Section 10(1) of the Jharkhand State Universities Act.
The reshuffle, approved by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta, is being seen as one of the most extensive administrative exercises undertaken by the university in recent years.

Among the key changes, Dr. Amar Singh has been shifted from Jamshedpur Co-operative College to take charge as Principal of Tata College, while Dr. S.C. Das has been moved from Tata College to Baharagora College. In another important move, senior faculty members from J.L.N. College—Dr. Harihar Pradhan and Dr. Nazrul Islam—have been assigned additional responsibilities as Principals-in-Charge at Manoharpur Degree College and Jagannathpur Degree College respectively.
The reshuffle has also impacted women’s institutions, with Dr. Priti Bala Sinha transferred from Women’s College Chaibasa to Ghatshila College. Simultaneously, Dr. Anjana Vandana Prema Khalkho from the Postgraduate Department of the university has been deputed as Principal-in-Charge of Women’s College, Chaibasa.
A series of mutual transfers among faculty members across Jamshedpur and Seraikela has further widened the scope of the reshuffle. Dr. Neeta Sinha has been posted to Workers’ College, Jamshedpur, while Dr. Suman Kumari has been assigned to Jamshedpur Co-operative College. Faculty members from core science disciplines, including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, have also been redistributed across multiple colleges in a bid to address staff imbalances.
In a notable administrative strategy, several teachers have been given additional responsibilities beyond their parent institutions. Dr. Arundhati Dey and Dr. Banshree Dey of GSCW, Jamshedpur, have been directed to conduct classes at Jamshedpur Co-operative College on designated days each week, alongside their existing duties. Similarly, Dr. M.A. Khan has been assigned weekly teaching and administrative responsibilities at Workers’ College, Jamshedpur.
Further strengthening key institutions, Dr. Prakash Sarkar has been transferred from Kashi Sahu College, Seraikela, to Jamshedpur Co-operative College. Meanwhile, Dr. Sanjay Yadav and Dr. Krishna Pyare have been entrusted with the crucial roles of Principals-in-Charge at K.S. College, Seraikela, and Jamshedpur Co-operative College respectively.
University officials state that the reshuffle is aimed at ensuring better academic delivery, optimal utilization of faculty, and improved administrative coordination across colleges. However, the sudden and wide-ranging transfers have also sparked discussions within academic circles, with many viewing it as a decisive but disruptive intervention.
