Jamshedpur, June 4: Marking World Environment Day, noted social worker and Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit’s fan, Pappu Sardar, distributed 101 fruit-bearing plants on Wednesday at the Ram Mandir premises in Bistupur. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and encourage a plastic-free society.
In his address, Pappu Sardar urged people to avoid using plastic and instead carry cloth or paper bags when visiting markets. “Plastic is causing severe harm to the environment and poses a serious threat to future generations,” he said.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from local women, who wrote ‘Shri Ram’ on the plants and performed rituals before planting them. The Ram Mandir priest also conducted tree plantation with Vedic chanting.
Praising the initiative, participants pledged to protect the environment and avoid the use of plastic. The event was attended by officials from Jugsalai police station and the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee
