Jamshedpur, Jan 2: Under the aegis of Srividya Shakti Sarvaswam of Chennai and with the blessings of Shrimata Lalitambika Rajrajeshwari Tripursundari on the fifth day today of the nine-day Shri Amba Yagna Nav Kundatmak Sahastrachandi Mahayagna and Srimad Devi Bhagwat Katha Gyan Yagna, narrator Acharya Vijay Prakash Maharaj deliberated in detail on Mahishasur, Mardini Charitra, Vritrasur�s slaying� and Raja Nahush.
�Goddess Durga appeared as an answer to the prayers of exasperated Gods Who were wary of demons known in scriptures as Asuras who were creating havoc in the universe. Ma Durga annihilated the most powerful of the demons, Mahishasur and other Asuras who had also usurped Heaven by defeating the Gods. On earth, the same state prevailed. Thus Mother brought peace among mankind and praying to Devi Durga daily eradicates desires, evil thoughts and anger,� Acharya Vijay Prakash Maharaj explained.
Delving deeper on the subject, Maharaj Ji explained, �Seeing the turmoil on earth and Heaven, Mother Adishakti took on the avatar of Ma Durga. She took this form to kill the demons. Mother Durga freed both the worlds of these demons that the Gods were not able to defeat. Among the demons, the most powerful was Mahishasur. He undertook a very difficult mode of penance to please Lord Brahma Who blessed Mahishasur with powers with which neither the Gods nor other demons could ever defeat him. But he defeated the Gods as well as the mortals and conquered Heaven and earth and unleashed a reign of terror. It was then that Goddess Durga appeared and to protect Her devotees she killed Mahishasur.�
The packed audience of devotees were mesmerized by Acharya Vijay Prakash Maharaj Ji�s narration. The floats depicting today�s discourse added to the joy of devotees.
Today too, 31 hosts performed Yagna. On Thursday, January 2, Maharaj Ji will hold discourse on Haihay and Suryavansh and on the Shaktipeeths.
