Jamshedpur, Sept 8: Former member of Jharkhand Khadi Board and BJP leader Kulwant Singh Bunty today met Dr Amrendra Mahapatra, a member of the central health team at the Circuit house and handed a letter to him stating that a major health hazard emanated from drivers and handymen of parked trucks and trailers that carry goods to and from the citys various industries. The letter mentioned that the drivers and handymen of these vehicles came from other states and districts and while waiting for their turn for loading or unloading of consignments roamed around the city without masks and spat tobacco juice on streets making it extremely dangerous for citizens to come in contact with the COVID-19 virus. Dr Mahapatra agreed that it was a serious threat to health and said that he would take up the issue with the Deputy Commissioner. It may be mentioned here that till the time of going tp press trucks and trailers were seen parked along the roadsides near major factories.
The East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar had already issued letters to the administrations of all the 14 companies directing them to ensure that trucks and trailers loading and unloading material in their respective premises be made to park in allotted spaces instead of being parked on roadsides thus creating traffic hazards. The DCs letter had also mentioned to the administrations about the complaints received against the drivers and handymen of these vehicles who do not wear masks and spit on the roads which added to the citys COVID threat.
