Kolhan University Hosts Investor Awareness Seminar on Safe Investment Practices 

Jamshedpur: An investor awareness seminar was organized by the Department of Commerce, Kolhan University, on Tuesday in collaboration with the Investor Protection Fund, aimed at enhancing financial literacy and promoting informed investment decisions among students.

The seminar witnessed the participation of key experts from the financial sector, with Gunjan Biruli, Assistant General Manager from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Kolkata, and Rajeev Das, Junior Manager from BSE Limited, Ranchi, serving as keynote speakers. The programme was graced by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Finance Officer of the University, as the chief guest, while it was moderated by Pooja Kumari, Assistant Professor of the Department.

Addressing the gathering, Gunjan Biruli elaborated on SEBI’s role in protecting investor interests, outlining investor rights and the functioning of financial markets. He emphasized the importance of making safe and informed investment decisions and highlighted the regulatory measures in place to safeguard investors.

Rajeev Das provided detailed insights into the functioning of the Bombay Stock Exchange, its major indices, and the process of listing companies. He explained the dynamics of stock trading and encouraged students to understand market mechanisms before investing.

The seminar also featured an interactive session, where students and faculty members raised queries, which were addressed comprehensively by the speakers.

The programme was attended by Head of the Department Dr. Ranvijay Kumar, Assistant Professors Bhavani Modi, Pooja Kumari, and Mukul Munda from G.C. Jain Commerce College, along with Pooja Sahu, Dr. Murari Lal, and Ram Vinay from Ghatsila College. Faculty members including Saraswati Kumari from Jain College, Dr. Shrimant Rai, Dr. Tanuja, Dr. Jaya Jacqueline, and Dr. Meenakshi Munda were also present. PhD scholars from the 2022 batch and students from various departments participated in large numbers.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta appreciated the initiative and extended her best wishes, stating that such programmes play a crucial role in imparting practical knowledge about financial literacy and investment awareness among students.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Bhavani Modi, followed by the National Anthem, marking the successful completion of the event.
