Take pledge to create India of Mahatma Gandhi�s dreams: DC

Jamshedpur, Oct 2: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla Wednesday appealed to all citizens to unite and work together to create India of Mahatma Gandhi�s dreams. He said the Father of the Nation had dream of a country free of violence and various social evils. It is the duty of all citizens to make this dream a reality, he said.

The DC was addressing a gathering at a function organized by Jharkhand Khadi Gramodyog Board to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Bistupur.
Shukla said Mahatma Gandhi�s life was an epitome of simplicity and idealism.

Senior superintendent of police Anoop Birtharay was also present during the event. He said Khadi clothes were an integral part of India�s cultural heritage and they had played a vital role in making the country independent. He said Khadi still has a sound presence in the country despite the arrival of many foreign companies.

Khadi Gramodyog member Kulwant Singh Bunty said Mahatma Gandhi and Khadi had a very old relationship. Khadi Board is offering discounts up to 25 per cent on purchases made from 2nd October to 30th January, he said.

Earlier, the guests paid floral tributes to the Mahatma. Many visitors also paid tributes to the Father of the Nation and availed special discounts on Khadi clothes at the Khadi Gramodyog outlet near Bistupur traffic signal square. A bhajan programme was presented by singer Shradhha Das and musician Ramesh Das.
Others present during the event included Yogesh Malhotra, Chandrashekhar Mishra, Rajesh Shukla, Akhilesh Choudhary and Ashok Samant.
