Jamshedpur: The Faculty of Commerce at Karim City College, Jamshedpur, in academic collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), on Thursday inaugurated a one-week National Workshop titled ‘Developing E-Content for Online Teaching’. The workshop aims to strengthen digital pedagogy and enhance the capacity of educators to design effective online learning resources.
The programme is sponsored by the Jharkhand Higher Education Council under the Department of Higher & Technical Education, Government of Jharkhand, and co-sponsored by Punjab & Sind Bank, reflecting a concerted effort to promote digital literacy and innovation in higher education across the state.
Welcoming the participants, Principal Dr. Mohammad Reyaz said that in today’s rapidly evolving global education ecosystem, expertise in e-content development is no longer optional but an essential professional competency for teachers. He emphasized that digital pedagogy plays a critical role in ensuring quality, accessibility, and continuity in higher education.
The inaugural session was graced by Sanjeev Kumar Poddar, Financial Officer, Tata Steel Foundation, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Poddar praised the collaboration between Karim City College and AMU and underscored the importance of integrating technology into classroom practices to create a “future-ready” workforce. He highlighted the need for strong corporate-academic partnerships to drive innovation and urged educators to use digital tools to make learning more inclusive, engaging, and accessible.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Asif Irshad Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, AMU, provided a detailed overview of the architecture and methodology of e-content development. He outlined practical strategies for creating structured, learner-centric, and high-impact digital learning materials.
Dr. Md. Moazzam Nazri, Course Coordinator and Convenor, elaborated on the objectives and design of the week-long workshop. He noted that the programme is aimed at bridging the digital divide by equipping teachers with essential educational technologies and hands-on skills to effectively manage Learning Management Systems (LMS).
More than 60 participants from various institutions are taking part in the workshop, which will feature intensive training sessions by experts focusing on the transition from conventional classroom teaching to dynamic and interactive online learning environments.
The inaugural proceedings were conducted by Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Aftab Alam. The workshop is being supported by an organizing committee comprising Dr. Anwar Shahab, Dr. B. N. Tripathi, Dr. Alaey Ali, Dr. Ajaz Ahmad, Dr. Shahid Hashmi, Dr. Rashmi Akhtar, Dr. Syed Zahid Perwaiz, and Dr. Asghar Ali.
