Jamshedpur, Feb 05: The annual sports day was organized by Karim City College at the Armory Ground today. College Principal Dr Mohammad Riyaz while welcoming the guests, urged the students to strive for excellence in sports. The chief guest on the occasion was Asish Kumar Sinha while the guests of honour included Hassan Imam and V Ramakrishnan. The guests stated that sports were an inseparable part of life that ensures removal of stress. The College�s physical and sports trainer Prof Sneha Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion to motivate the participating students. A medical team was also present on the ground to attend to field injuries.
Sunil Gope and Sanjukta Dungdung were declared Best Athletes at the meet. The Overall Championship Award was presented to B Ed Semester III and DL AD Semester III.
The prizes were given away by V Ramakrishnan, Prof Shafiullah Ansari, Director Md Zakaria and Department-in-Charge Dr Sucheta Bhuinya. In his address after the prize distribution ceremony, V Ramakrishnan said, �Sports should be a way of life as sporting events account for a sense of discipline and ensures physical and mental development. It is sports, among others, that have made India an international force to reckon with.�
The event was anchored by Dr Sandhya Sinha. The vote of thanks was proposed by Priyanka Priyadarshini.
