Juvenile undertrial commits suicide at Remand Home in Jamshedpur

Parents suspect foul play

Jamshedpur: A juvenile undertrial committed suicide by hanging at the Ghaghidih-based correction home under Parsudih police station area early Thursday morning.

Body of the 17-year-old undertrial was found hanging from a ceiling fan at a room.
The deceased who was a resident of Ulidih in Mango has left a suicide note in which he has begged pardon from his parents for leaving the world, but the family members demanded for disclosing the suicidal note as they suspect foul play.

The boy was arrested under POCSO Act in March this year and ever since then was lodged in the correction home.

OC, Parsudih police station, Animesh Gupta confirmed about the recovery of a juvenile undertrial from the Ghaghidih Correction Home in hanging condition.
” We are investigating the incident. A fellow inmate informed the correction home in-charge, leading the in-charge to inform the police to reach the spot by 6 am to find the boy hanging. Prima facie it is a suicidal case,” said Gupta.

Gupta said the boy who was a resident of Krishna Nagar in Gaur Bustee in Ulidih had been arrested for allegedly molestation of a minor girl at Mango.

The OC said the body has already been sent to MGM Medical College mortuary where post-mortem has to be done under a three-member medical board and also under videography.

Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased boy have raised question about the police inaction which has led the boy to take the drastic step. The parents have said that the police have not carried out any conclusive probe regarding the alleged molestation act by the deceased.
