Hemant Soren joins “Jharkhand Jatra” to mark state’s 25th foundation day
Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren participated in the grand “Jharkhand Jatra” held in Ranchi to celebrate the silver jubilee of Jharkhand State Formation Day. The vibrant procession began from JAIP-1 Ground, Doranda, passed through Firayalal Chowk, and culminated at Birsa Munda Smriti Park, Jail Chowk. Soren energized local folk artists by playing traditional drums and joined the foot march up to Albert Ekka Chowk.
“Jharkhand Jatra” showcased the state’s rich cultural heritage, folk art, and communal unity. Participants from various tribal and local communities presented colorful performances, including traditional dances, songs, musical instruments, and thematic tableaux depicting Jharkhand’s art, festivals, heroic figures, and historical struggles. The procession was further enlivened with a flower shower from a helicopter, filling the atmosphere with pride and festivity.
Addressing citizens, CM Hemant Soren extended greetings on the 25th foundation anniversary and emphasized that Jharkhand represents not only a geographical identity but also struggle, pride, and cultural heritage. He highlighted the state government’s efforts to preserve and strengthen Jharkhand’s linguistic, cultural, and traditional legacy. “Jharkhand Jatra” symbolizes collective spirit, unity, and a proud heritage that will connect future generations with their roots.
The jatra was flagged off in the morning at JAIP-1 Ground by Minister of Scheduled Castes and Tribes Welfare Chamra Linda, who beat the traditional drum to mark its start. At the conclusion, Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey and MLA Kalpana Soren welcomed the procession at Birsa Munda Smriti Park, Jail Chowk, playing traditional drums and joining in folk dances to enhance the festive spirit. The event saw participation from tribal community representatives, folk artists, students, cultural troupes, social organizations, and a large gathering of citizens. Various state departments and cultural groups played an active role in making the jatra a historic celebration of Jharkhand’s spirit, culture, and collective pride.
