Service extension of doctors in teaching and non-teaching posts for six months
Ranchi, June 22: The Jharkhand Government on Tuesday declared Mucormycosis (Black Fungus) as an epidemic in the state. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the state cabinet which was chaired by chief minister Hemant Soren at the project building on Tuesday evening.
Declaring it as an epidemic would lead to health facilities screening for it and reporting all such cases to the government for better surveillance. Now all the government, private hospitals and even nursing clinics will have to notify cases of mucormycosis to the respective district surveillance unit.
Several states like Rajasthan, Telangana and Tamil Nadu have declared it an epidemic last month. So far, Jharkhand has 82 confirmed and 53 suspected mucormycosis cases and reported 26 deaths while 52 have been discharged after recovery.
Over the past few months, mucormycosis, a rare infection, normally caused after exposure to mucor mould commonly found in soil, plants, manure, and decaying fruits and vegetables has emerged as a major public health concern in India and is being reported in many people during or after Covid infection.
The condition, with a very high mortality rate affects the sinuses, the brain, eyes and the lungs and can be particularly life-threatening in diabetic or severely immunocompromised individuals, such as cancer patients or HIV-infected persons.
In an important decision for health sector, the government has also decided to give service extension to doctors part of Jharkhand Medical Services in teaching and non teaching category who were due to retire by March 2022 by a period of six months from the date of their retirement.
During the cabinet meeting, it was decided to give approval from retrospective effect to give extension to the panel of teachers appointed in Post Graduate departments of the universities and in the constituent colleges till September 30, 2021.
The cabinet agreed to make minor amendments in provisions related to appointment of retired army personnel and JCOs as Special Auxiliary Police (SAP).
The cabinet also decided to transfer 2.05 acres of land on Mudma at Nagri in Ranchi to NTPC at payment of Rs 4,04,94,778 for building office of NTPC. Further another area of 1.03 acres will be given to National Highway Authority of India in Mudma of Nagri to build their regional office.
It was decided to implement SVAMITVA, a scheme of the Union Panchayati Raj Ministry (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) in Jharkhand. The government has also decided to form statutes on minimum qualification for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for maintenance of standards in Higher education 2021 in pursuance to UGC Regulations.
It was also agreed to transfer free of land in Badapahad of Ghatshila Circle area in East Singhbhum district measuring 07.94 acres to set up a Kendriya Vidyalaya to MHRD Government of India. It was decided to make an advance withdrawal of Rs 8.49 crore from Jharkhand Contingency Funds as part of money provided by centre to tackle Coronavirus. Approval from retrospective effect was also given to a proposal worth Rs 3.85 crore to build new residential homes as per requirements in 83 blocks offices of the state. A sum of Rs 56.69 crore was also approved for transportation and distribution of food grains which will be provided to the beneficiaries of Pradhanmantri Garib Kalyan Yojana under NFSA for the period May 2021 to June 2021.
