Jamshedpur: The third Sports Day of Jamshedpur Women’s University was organised on Friday at its Bistupur campus, with enthusiastic participation from students and non-teaching staff. A series of athletic and fun competitions was conducted as part of the event.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sanatan Deep, Chairperson of the university’s Sports and Cultural Department, and his team.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Anjila Gupta extended her best wishes to all participants and congratulated those who secured first, second, and third positions in various events. She emphasised that sports play a crucial role in students’ holistic development. “Games instil discipline, time management, and perseverance, which are essential qualities for personality development,” she said.
Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW) Dr. Kishwar Ara, Registrar Dr. Salomi Kujur, and Proctor Dr. Sudhir Sahu were present on the occasion. All non-teaching staff members of the university actively participated in the event.

- First Place: Prabha Murmu (M.Sc. Zoology)
- Second Place: Sheetal Tigga (B.P.Ed, First Semester)
- Third Place: Preeti Kujur (B.P.Ed, Third Semester)
Non-Teaching Staff Competitions – Bistupur and Sidhgora Campuses
Special events including tug of war, spoon-and-marble race, and bombing competition were organised for non-teaching staff.
Tug of War:
- Men’s Category: Tushar’s team won 2–0
- Women’s Category: Archana’s team won 2–0
Spoon-and-Marble Race (Women’s Category):
- First Place: Basanti Das

- Third Place: Jamuna Samad
