Jamshedpur: The Department of Commerce and Business Management at Jamshedpur Women’s University successfully organized an educational program titled “Talk on Budget 2026” on February 5, 2026.
The event commenced under the distinguished presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. (Prof.) Anjila Gupta. Before the formal inauguration, a special academic session was held for NEP B.Com (8th Semester) and M.Com students, providing critical guidance on research methodology and dissertation work. The main program opened with the traditional lighting of the lamp and a melodic song, setting a dignified and positive tone for the session.
Focus on a Future-Oriented Economy
Mr. Kishore Golcha, a key speaker, emphasized the national significance of the Union Budget, explaining how it outlines the roadmap for revenue generation and expenditure. He described Budget 2026 as a future-oriented plan, meticulously crafted with the “India @2047” vision in mind—targeting a fully developed nation by the centenary of independence.
Simplified Analysis of Key Proposals
The keynote speaker, Mr. Suresh Sonthalia, simplified the technicalities of the budget by drawing parallels with household financial management. He highlighted that Budget 2026 prioritizes holistic development with a special focus on:
- Green Steel & Exports: Strategic incentives for sustainable manufacturing and global trade.
- Textile & Infrastructure: The establishment of new Textile Parks and a massive push for national infrastructure.
- Special Focus on Jharkhand: Tailored development initiatives for the state’s industrial and rural landscape.
- Rural Employment: An increase in MGNREGA (or the new VB-G RAM G mission) workdays from 100 to 125 days.
- Technology & AI: Major thrust on Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductors (ISM 2.0), and the “Ease of Doing Business” through tax reforms.
Empowerment and Innovation
Advocate Piyush Chaudhary labeled Budget 2026 as a “Yuva Shakti” (Youth Power) Budget. He stated that women are no longer just participants but are now leading the nation’s progress. He further discussed advancements in skill-based education, women’s safety, medical tourism hubs, and the simplification of the GST and tax systems to encourage innovation and investment.
The session featured an interactive Q&A where students engaged with the experts. To conclude, certificates were awarded to students who participated in the previous GST Seminar and the “Talk on Budget 2026.”
The program was conducted under the guidance of Dean Dr. Deepa Sharan and HOD Dr. Kamini Kumari. A vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Chhagan Lal Agrawal, and the event was moderated by Ms. Bhavna Kumari and Ms. Jayanti Pradhan.
