Jamshedpur, August 25: The search for the missing Alchemist Aviation trainer aircraft has reached a significant milestone with the discovery of its wreckage in Chandil Dam on Sunday. “The aircraft was located submerged near Vandih in the dam by a team from the Indian Navy on Sunday,” said a Navy spokesperson.

The recovery team has successfully pulled out a portion of the wreckage, though complete extraction is expected to take more time due to the challenging conditions. “We have the equipment necessary to handle heavy objects, and we are working diligently to retrieve the entire aircraft from the dam,” the spokesperson added.

The aircraft had gone missing shortly after taking off from Sonari Airport five days ago, prompting a coordinated search effort involving the NDRF, local administration, and the forest department. “Since Tuesday, our teams have been searching tirelessly,” said Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Chandil, Subhra Rani.

On Thursday, the bodies of trainee pilot Shubhrodeep Dutta and instructor pilot Jeet Shatru Anand were recovered from the reservoir. “The recovery of the aircraft’s wreckage confirms our worst fears, but we are committed to completing the recovery process,” stated Mrinal Paul, MD of Alchemist Aviation.
