Jamshedpur, Feb 19: Tata Workers Union committee member and an employee of Tata Steel�s mechanical maintenance department S Purushottam Mani, 54, died of heart attack while on duty here on Wednesday.
�Mani complained of severe chest pain this morning while at workplace. Post first aid, he was escorted by a doctor on duty to the TMH emergency, where he was declared brought dead at around 10:25 am. The prima facie investigation points to cardiac arrest as the cause of the death. The body has been sent for post mortem.
The family members have been informed about the demise. The company expresses deep sense of loss and stands united with the family in these trying times. Mani�s family will receive all support and benefits over and above statutory benefits as per the company�s policy,� said the company spokesperson.
Condolences poured in soon after news about Mani�s demise transpired. Many company officials, union leaders and well-wishers reached the hospital. Mani is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. Tata Workers Union president R Ravi Prasad said Mani�s death had caused an irreparable loss to the union.
