Jamshedpur: Gulmohur High School has brought global recognition to the city as Akshat Sarkar, a Class VIII student, clinched First Prize in the Junior Category at Amazon AWS Innovate X—widely regarded as America’s largest AI Fest and among the world’s most prestigious innovation platforms for young students. The competition drew more than 60,000 entries worldwide from students of Classes VI to XII.
Organised by Amazon Web Services, AWS Innovate X functions as an international innovation accelerator, challenging participants to identify real-world business problems and develop scalable, technology-driven solutions aligned with industry needs. Akshat’s AI-based model for detecting fraudulent returns impressed the jury by addressing a critical challenge faced by large e-commerce platforms, standing out for its originality, technical strength, and real-world applicability.
The international panel of judges praised Akshat for the clarity of his ideas, the rigour of execution, and the strong vision demonstrated in his project. They highlighted his advanced understanding of artificial intelligence concepts and his ability to apply them innovatively—an exceptional achievement at the middle-school level.
