Jamshedpur: Senior leaders pay tribute to Nirmal Mahato on his death anniversary

Jamshedpur, Aug 8: Cutting all the party lines, leaders of BJP, Congress and JMM along with political parties and social organisations observed slain leader Nirmal Mahto’s 33rd death anniversary on Sunday. 
JMM leader and Transport Minister Champai Soren paid floral tributes to Nirmal Mahato at his musoleum on his death anniversary. He called the tribals to unite and fight for their rights. Soren also hailed the role being played by the state government. 


Floral tribute was paid to the statue of the departed leader, who was gunned down in 1987 in front of the Chamaria guest house at Bistupur area here and Kadma. 
On the occasion, senior leaders Health Minister Banna Gupta, Transport Minister Champai Soren, MLA Savita Mahto, MP Bidhyut Baran Mahto, JMM leader Astik Mahto participated in the event. They recalled the slain leader’s contribution in the Jharkhand Movement.

In view of coronavirus, the public meeting organised on the day remained cancelled. The meeting used to be addressed by JMM leader Shibu Soren.
Several leaders today paid homage to slain Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Nirmal Mahto on his death annivesary. Thousands of people also thronged Kadma to pay floral tributes to Nirmal Mahato at his musoleum on his death anniversary.


Interacting with the supporters a senior said, “The need of the hour is to work genuinely for the development of the state as Nirmal Da laid his life for the creation of a separate state to make tribals of this region earn livelihood with dignity.”
Later, in the day senior functionaries of JMM including Transport Minister Champai Soren, reached the venue to pay their homage to one of the most popular leaders of Kolhan.


BJP leader Amarpreet Singh Kale too paid tribute to the leader and said that Nirmal Mahato’s ideology has increased amongst the party workers of neighbouring states particulary, West Bengal and Odisha.
Astik Mahto said that tribals have always been deprived of their rights whether they are in Jharkhand or Assam. It is high time for us to unite and fight for our rights. It is our own land and we must rise to succeed.
