Jamshedpur runs for environment

Jamshedpur, May 26: Tata Steel today organized �Greenathon � A Run for Environment� for the citizens of Jamshedpur. The 2.4 km run started from JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur. Subodh Kumar, ADM (Law & Order), East Singhbhum graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The event was based on UNEP theme for World Environment Day 2018 �Beat Plastic Pollution�. More than 1000 citizens participated in the event
Kumar said that the efforts taken by Tata Steel towards environment protection is remarkable and worthy of appreciation. He added that such environmental events, campaigns and awareness should be encouraged at all times.

Sanjiv Paul, Vice President, Sustainability, Health and Safety, Tata Steel urged one and all to come together for reducing excessive use of plastics in our daily lives and continuously explore sustainable alternatives.

The Run was followed by a signature campaign and tree plantation ceremony by all the dignitaries present on the occasion.

Suresh Paswan, Regional Officer, Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board and SK Pati, Chief, Environment Management, Tata Steel also cheered the participants along with other officers of Tata Steel.

Akin to past years, Tata Steel is celebrating World Environment Day 2018 with a plethora of events and initiatives under the �Greenfection� campaign umbrella.
