Jamshedpur, March 29: Dry westerly winds sweeping through the state have pushed up maximum temperatures in most places, with Jamshedpur clocking the state’s highest temperature of 37.6�C� for the second consecutive day on Sunday.
Other heat pockets include Seraikela, Chaibasa in West Singhbhum, Bokaro and Simdega, where the daytime temperature is hovering between 36�C and 37�C.
Capital Ranchi was comparatively cooler at 32.5�C. Daltonganj on Sunday recorded a maximum reading of 34.4�C against yesterday’s 33�C.
Weathermen said dry weather with mainly clear sky will prevail in most districts till April 4.

“We are keeping an eye on the changes in weather. Jharkhand is in grip of heat wave due to the dominating westerly winds. We don’t see any signs of rain in the next 72-hours. The maximum temperature will continue to rise. Keeping this in view we have extended the heat wave conditions,” said official of the Patna Meteorological Office.
” The heat wave conditions will continue to prevail for another 48-hours. This was indicated by the wind charts and other related observations,” said adding that the week ahead will remain hot and humid.
According to information cases of heat stroke cases on rise and several patients were hospitalised as heat wave conditions swept across the region. Nursing homes and other private hospitals were witnessing spurt in admissions. People have been attacked with cough-cold, seasonal flu dehydration, gastroenteritis and jaundice also.
Officials of M G M Medical College and Hospital, said that in the Steel City two-three persons on an average are being hospitalised due heat stroke for the past few days. Patients are complaining of dehydration, mild fever and cough too.
