Jamshedpur: QR code OPD registration simplifies healthcare at Seraikela Sadar Hospital

Seraikela: Patients at Seraikela Sadar Hospital can now bypass long queues with the launch of QR code-based OPD registration under the National Health Authority’s initiative. This new system, introduced at the district’s largest government hospital, allows patients to register quickly and generate token numbers by scanning a QR code using their mobile phones. The streamlined process significantly reduces waiting time, enabling patients to collect their OP slip from the registration desk and promptly meet the doctor.

Digital convenience for families
Hospital Manager Sanjit Rai explained the process, urging individuals to download the DRIEFCASE app from the Play Store. By creating profiles for themselves and family members, users can securely store their health details. Upon arriving at the hospital, patients simply scan the QR code using the app or any ABDM-enabled application to receive a registration token. When their token number is called, they can proceed to collect their OP slip and access OPD services. Rai added that plans are underway to extend this system to indoor health services soon.

Tackling long queues
With an average of 300–400 patients visiting the OPD daily, the numbers often surge to 500 during peak seasons like summer and during outbreaks of seasonal diseases. Long queues at the registration desk have been a persistent challenge. This QR code system promises significant relief, saving time and improving the overall patient experience.

Free dialysis service a boon for locals
In addition to the QR-based registration, free dialysis services at Seraikela Sadar Hospital continue to benefit local residents. Earlier, patients had to travel to Jamshedpur and incur substantial expenses for dialysis treatments. Now, the availability of free dialysis under government health programs has brought much-needed respite to families in the region.

The innovative steps at Seraikela Sadar Hospital highlight the growing role of technology in improving public healthcare, making services more accessible and efficient for the community.
