Jamshedpur Pulse Polio campaign : 3,95,368 children to receive drops

Jamshedpur: In an effort to eradicate polio and ensure the health and safety of children, the district administration is gearing up for a comprehensive Pulse Polio campaign set to run from August 25th to 27th. The campaign aims to administer polio drops to children aged 0-5 years and is expected to reach a target of 3,95,368 children across the district.

As per the instructions of the District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, Ananya Mittal, a crucial preparatory meeting was held by the Deputy Development Commissioner with various stakeholders, including the Health Department, NGOs, Municipal Body, JSLPS, Social Welfare, Panchayati Raj, and Block Administration. During the meeting, comprehensive guidelines were provided to ensure the campaign’s success.

The Deputy Development Commissioner emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination and the mobilization of resources to achieve the campaign’s objectives. “We must ensure that no child is deprived of taking polio drops. Our goal is to achieve 100% coverage, and this can only be achieved through mutual coordination and a well-structured action plan,” he said.

To meet the campaign’s ambitious target, 3066 booths will be set up across the district on August 25th. On Booth Day, 6132 trained vaccinators will be deployed to administer the polio drops. Additionally, 308 supervisors have been appointed to oversee the process and ensure smooth operations.

The Deputy Development Commissioner has directed senior officials from all blocks to maintain constant coordination with the Medical Officer In-Charge (MOIC) of their respective blocks and other block-level officials. This is to guarantee the campaign’s smooth implementation and to address any challenges that may arise promptly.

The campaign is a collaborative effort involving several departments and organizations. Alongside the Health Department, the Women and Child Development Department, Education Department, Municipal Corporation, Panchayati Raj, and various NGOs will play a vital role in ensuring the campaign’s success. “All departments and organizations must work together to make sure every child is reached. Coordination is key to achieving our goal,” stated the Deputy Development Commissioner.

In preparation for the campaign, all vaccinators and supervisors have undergone extensive training. The training sessions focused on the proper administration of polio drops, the importance of accurate record-keeping, and strategies to encourage community participation. The aim is to ensure that the campaign is carried out efficiently and effectively in every block of the district.
