Jamshedpur, Dec. 24: The Corona virus is still around us but people are showing carelessness despite the rise in positive COVID-19 cases. State government and district administration is trying hard to bring life back on track. Every festival after March has been celebrated as per the government guidelines with thin attendance. With New Year round the corner citizens will be looking for an all out adventure with picnics and get-together. New Year eve at hotels and clubs also attracts large number of people. Keeping this in mind the East Singhbhum district administration has issued guidelines and increased vigilance at picnic spots. COVID tests has also been made mandatory at picnic spots. Acting on the directives of Kolhan DIG Rajiv Ranjan Singh, police launched special vehicle checking drive in all the three districts of Kolhan. West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan and East Singhbhum administration launched the drive on Thursday. Led by senior police officials vehicle and arms checking was done at Adityapur, Gamharia, Kandra and Sini in Saraikela-Kharsawan district. In East Singhbhum senior police officials along with traffic police were present at various strategic points of the city. Arms checking were also done at Bistupur, Saatchi, Jugsalai, Mango, Telco and other police station jurisdictions in Jamshedpur. East Singhbhum district administration and city police have jointly planned an action plan for convenience of picnickers and New Year revelers.

A traffic official informed that they have decided to enforce curb on entry of heavy vehicles to prevent mishap on city roads as heavy vehicles carrying industrial goods ply with speed to meet their deadlines to various industrial units located in the city. The no entry curb will start from 6 am (morning) of January 1 till midnight.
All the five traffic police officials have been asked to stop plying of heavy vehicles while the Mango traffic police strength has been increased to ensure that heavy vehicles are not allowed entry to city from either Dimna roundabout or Pardih roundabout along the NH-33.
Meanwhile, administration has decided to deploy trained divers associated with various NGOs and civil defence unit near water points which are thronged by picnickers.

Divers would be deputed near Dimna Lake, Hudco Dam, Narwa Dam (in Jadugora) and River Subernarekha banks at Domuhani (Sonari) and Sakchi, along with adequate police force. Magistrates and static police forces will also be deputed at prominent picnic spots including Dimna Lake (Mango), , Narwapahar (Jadugora), Domuhani, and Hudco Lake (Telco).
City SP Subhash Chandra Jat has also directed the local police station officials and the highway patrol units to step up their vigil from December 31 afternoon till January 3 to prevent unlawful assembly of youths in city and Highways, rash driving, blaring of sound systems after 10 pm and consumption of liquor on the roads.
The district police along with district excise department staff also carried out a special drive against drunken driving.
The move in this regard has been taken by police after senior police officials received many complaints from residents demanding to curb the menace at public places. People also said some of the drinkers do mischievous acts and pass lewd remarks on women crossing through there.

The tiger mobiles have also been directed to launch frequent checking near liquor shops. The cops will lay down checking near different liquor shops across the town continuously.
The district women cell personnel, in assistance from the local police station, will carry out mobile duty to get hold of eve-teasers, if any, inside the tourist spots and outside.
Every year, from mid of December to the end January tourists from the different parts of the state and also from neighbouring Bengal come here for enjoying picnic at Dalma hills, Dimna lake, Burudih Dam, Galudih resort, Narwa, Jubilee Park and Hudco Lake.
According to the SP, apart from the Dimna lake area, special security arrangements have been made at Narwa lake in Jadugora and at Burudih Dam in Ghatshila.
