Jamshedpur police arrest three for shooting at scarp dealer’s car

Jamshedpur: In a significant development, local authorities apprehended three individuals in connection with a targeted shooting incident that occurred on September 19 in Sonari. The suspects, identified as Ajay Gaud, Jagannath Pusty, and Ritesh Kumar Singh, were taken into custody by the police.
During the arrest, law enforcement officers confiscated a firearm, a live cartridge, and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime. Senior SP Kaushal Kishore shed light on the case, explaining that the shooting was a deliberate attempt to pressure the scrap dealer, Laljee Prasad, into withdrawing a case he had filed with the Sonari Thana on August 16, 2023.
The initial case stemmed from a failed chain-snatching incident, during which a gang of criminals had targeted Laljee Prasad, prompting him to file an FIR against unidentified culprits. Subsequently, the police successfully solved the chain-snatching case by arresting two individuals, Rahul Singh Munda and Sonu Singh, and recovering a motorcycle. During interrogation, Sonu Singh disclosed the involvement of Ajay Gaud and Pintu Yadav in the case. As the police intensified their search for Ajay and Pintu, Ajay devised a plan to intimidate the scrap dealer by orchestrating a shooting incident with the assistance of his associates, Jagannath Pusty and Ritesh.
The senior SP emphasized that the police had gathered crucial evidence, including CCTV footage of the shooting, and recovered two empty cartridges from the scene of the crime. Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
