Jamshedpur, Feb 23: The four-day celebration marking the 191st birth anniversary of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and the 88th annual festival of Mataji Ashram commenced with great devotion and enthusiasm on Sunday.
The spiritual event will continue through Wednesday, drawing devotees and dignitaries from across the region.
The inaugural day witnessed the presence of Uday Maharaj, Mahadev Maharaj, Raveen Maharaj, MLA Sanjib Sardar and social worker Shekhar De.
The atmosphere resonated with devotion as Kamal Kanti Ghosh presented soulful Ramakrishna music.
Welcoming the gathering, Sunil Kumar De highlighted the Ashram’s year-round religious and service-oriented activities. Addressing the devotees, Uday Maharaj described Sri Ramakrishna as the embodiment of religious harmony, stating that his liberal spiritual teachings and universal message remain profoundly relevant even today.
MLA Sanjib Sardar termed Mataji Ashram an ideal religious institution that consistently undertakes spiritual and humanitarian initiatives.
Echoing similar sentiments, Shekhar De said the Ashram stands as a center of spirituality and service, continuously contributing to society and representing a treasured religious heritage of Jharkhand.
The programme also featured vibrant cultural performances. Members of Kalindi Nav Natya Samiti presented Harinam Sankirtan and Hariloot, adding to the devotional fervour of the occasion.
Dulal Mukherjee delivered the vote of thanks, while the proceedings were conducted by Rajkumar Sahu and Anand Sahu.
A large number of devotees attended the opening day of the celebrations, making the event a spiritually uplifting and memorable occasion.
