Jamshedpur man dies in road mishap after seeing off newly wedded sister

Car crashes into stationary gas tanker, three dead, one seriously injured

Jamshedpur, Dec 10: No one knows what will happen the next moment. The joy and celebration of  retired Tata Steel employee Rajesh Kumar’s daughter Ritu’s marriage with Delhi resident Vipul Garg was organized at Golden Resort on NH 33 on Wednesday evening and invitees enjoyed every moment of the occasion. No one knew then that this gaiety would be short lived.

At 2 am on Thursday, Rajesh bid farewell to his daughter Ritu along with the groom’s entourage but he did not know that he was bidding permanent farewell to sons of three families simultaneously. Among tyhem were two who were the sole sons of two families. According to information among the dead were bride Ritu’s brother Rahul Kumar and is friend Sumit Kumar and another.

According to the relatives After the marriage festivities, Ritu’s brother Rahul Kumar DSoingh along with his three friends was travelling in a Tata Tiago car (JH 05 CK 8474) to drop his sister at the Ranchi airport. The groom’s team comprising 48 people travelled in a bus to the airport. After seeing off all at the Ranchi airport Rahul and his friends were returning to Jamshedpur when the car they were traveling in crashed into a stationary gas tanker (NL 02 N 9393) at Jamchua under Namkum police station. The impact was such that the car was smashed to smithereens. Three persons in the car were killed on the spot while one youth was rushed to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi in a serious condition. According to reports he is undergoing treatment in the Neuro Surgery Department and has been put on ventilator. The impact of the crash was such that police had to use gas cutters to extricate the body of the driver from the car. The police have seized both vehicles.

Rahul was employed in Bengaluru based IT firm

Bride Ritu’s brother Rahul who was 25 years old had completed his initial education at Bistupur’s St Mary’s School and then completed his Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) course. He was recently employed in a Bengaluru based IT firm. He had come down to Jamshedpur to attend his sister’s wedding. Rahul was the only son of his parents and was younger to Ritu. He was a resident of Ranikudar Road # 3 under Kadma PS.s

Sumit was the only son of Dr Mahendra Prasad

Rahul’s close friend Sumit was the sole son of Dr Mahendra Prasad, a general physician posted at the Primary Health Centre in Jugsalai. Sumit and Rahul were school mates at St mary’s School in Bistupur. Sumit was pursuing an engineering course at Arka Jain University. He was 22 years old. He too along with his family had attended Rahul’s sister’s wedding reception on Wednesday. Sumit lost his grandfather two months earlier and his grandmother is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Sumit was a resident of Ranikudar Road # 2 under Kadma police station.
