Jamshedpur karate coach selected referee for Khelo India University Games

Jamshedpur, April 19: The second edition of the Khelo India University Games will be held in the tech capital Bengaluru from April 24 to May 3.

A brainchild of Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) the event which was set to be held in 2021 was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and is finally being held in Bengaluru.

The karate competition is scheduled from April 30 to May 2. For the same Jamshedpur’s Shihan L. Nageshwar Rao, a black belt who is associated with the sport for over three decades has been selected as Referee for karate events of Khelo India University Games.

Chief Coach at Tata Steel Karate Training Centre cum Hony. General Secretary, Jharkhand State Karate Do Association and Vice President, Karate Association of India L. Nageshwar Rao is the first person from Jharkhand to be selected by Khelo India.  Earlier in the month of March, 2022 Rao was appointed as Technical Secretary in Delhi Olympic Games (Martial Arts), organized by Delhi Olympic Association.

51-year-old Rao has undergone advanced training under grandmasters in Japan.

Khelo India has selected 25 qualified national and international referees from all over India for the karate events.
