Jamshedpur: First beneficiary of Jharkhand widow remarriage scheme receives Rs 2 Lakh incentive

Jamshedpur: In a significant move to promote widow remarriage, Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal handed over an incentive cheque of Rs 2 lakh to Durga Devi, the first beneficiary of the State Widow Remarriage Promotion Scheme in East Singhbhum district. The event took place in the District Magistrate’s office, where Durga Devi, from Block Jamshedpur, received the incentive to start a new chapter of her life through remarriage.

While presenting the cheque, DM Ananya Mittal extended his best wishes to the couple for a bright and successful married life. He emphasized that the State Widow Remarriage Promotion Scheme is an ambitious initiative by the state government aimed at encouraging widow remarriage and breaking societal stereotypes. The scheme seeks to empower widows by providing financial support, enabling them to improve their quality of life and reintegrate into society.

On this occasion, the District Magistrate also handed over appointment letters to four newly appointed officers and employees for the Reception Home and Children Home in the district. The appointees included Sujit Mahato as House Pati, Suchand Mahato as Probation Officer, Kavita Kumari Singh as Counselor, and Sangeeta Godsora as Paramedical Personnel.

Congratulating the newly appointed staff, DM Ananya Mittal urged them to perform their duties with dedication and integrity, stressing that their roles directly impact the care, protection, and rehabilitation of children. He advised them to maintain a high standard of conduct and work towards making the Observation Home and Children Home of the district model institutions.

He also emphasized the importance of regular inspections, monitoring of CCTV footage, and maintaining security systems to ensure a safe environment for children. He urged the staff to work with a vision of reforming and reintegrating children into society, ensuring no negligence in their duties.

The event was attended by District Social Welfare Officer Sandhya Rani, DCPO, and other concerned officials, highlighting the administration’s commitment to social welfare and child protection.
