Jamshedpur, February 13: As the Indian Super League returns to Jamshedpur after almost a year, Jamshedpur FC have announced their 28-member squad for the upcoming campaign, with Shield-winning coach Owen Coyle back at the helm and nine crucial home matches awaiting at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
The Men of Steel will begin their ISL journey on February 15 at the JRD Stadium against Mohammedan SC, setting the tone for what many hope will be a strong turnaround season. After the Super Cup campaign, the squad is determined to respond positively and re-establish the Furnace as one of the toughest venues in the league.
The squad features a well-balanced composition, with six foreign players adding international experience and quality to the core group of talented Indian professionals. Their presence is complemented by a blend of seasoned campaigners and promising young players, creating the right mixture of experience and youthful energy.
The squad largely retains its Super Cup core, with goalkeeper Ravi Kumar being the only additional signing since that tournament, adding experience and depth to the goalkeeping department.
In midfield, Jamshedpur FC look particularly strong, with foreign recruits Nikola Stojanovic and Madih Talal along with Pronay Halder expected to play key roles. Alongside Rei Tachikawa and a competitive group of Indian midfielders, the engine room appears well equipped for the challenges ahead.
Defensively, experienced campaigners such as Pratik Chaudhari, Stephen Eze and Lazar Cirkovic provide solidity, while the attacking unit features the likes of Messi Bouli, Sanan and Ritwik.
Since returning to the club, Owen Coyle has been all praise for the commitment shown by the players. “We’re delighted with how hard the squad have been working since we came in,” said Coyle. “We inherited the squad, which was assembled prior to the Super Cup, but the players have shown a great attitude, great commitment and worked extremely hard in training. What we want to do now is transmit that work from the training ground onto the field, starting with the ISL game on Sunday,” he said.
With the top league revisiting the city and Jamshedpur FC playing nine home matches with packed stands, the Men of Steel is all set to embrace the new challenge.
