Celebrating Excellence in Canine Sports: Jamshedpur to Host Prestigious 34th & 35th FCI Dog Show and 77th & 78th Championship Dog Show
A special segment will rank Jamshedpur’s top 8 local dogs, crowning the “Best of Jamshedpur Local Dogs
Jamshedpur: The much-anticipated 34th & 35th FCI Dog Show, under the esteemed auspices of the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and The Kennel Club of India, alongside the 77th & 78th Championship Dog Show organized by the Jamshedpur Kennel Club, will take place from January 9th to 12th, 2025. The prestigious event will be hosted at the Archery Ground of the J.R.D. Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur, marking a grand celebration of canine excellence, pedigree, and sportsmanship.

While the JKC show is conducted every year, the privilege of hosting the FCI show has been granted to JKC only for the second time since inception of JKC in 1977. Jamshedpur Kennel Club is the only kennel club in eastern India to have been awarded the privilege of hosting FCI show for the second time.

The event will also include an (a) Obedience Test; (b) Labrador Specialty Show; (c) Beagle Specialty Show; (d) Dobermann Specialty Show & (e) Siberian Husky Specialty Show.
Highlights of the Event:
- The Obedience Competition of JKC is the most respected Obedience competition in India. There are 49 dogs participating in the obedience test. There are 27 Dogs participating for Post Graduate Qualification and 18 dogs participating for Companion Dog assessment (Dogs used for medical purposes). All other Obedience Shows in India feature less than half these numbers at post graduate and companion dog level.
- The FCI Show and JKC Show will see 421 Dogs competing for the Best in Show of the competition. The number of different breeds is an all time best at 49 breeds. While there are number of exotic breeds, you will get to see 4 Harlequin Great Danes in the ring. There will be 44 Dobermann Dogs, 31 Siberian Husky. Numbers that Jamshedpur has never seen in the ring before.
- There are many exotic breeds participating in the show. Keeshond and Toy Spaniel Papilon breeds are participating for the first time on Jamshedpur Ground. There are many breeds that can be seen on the ground after many years like (a) Samoyed; (b) Miniature Schnauzer; (c) English Setter; (d) Miniature Pinscher [also called minpin]; (e)Dogue de Bordeaux; (f) Dogo Argentino; (g) American Staffordshire and a few more. Some of the exotic dogs participated last year will reappear this year as well like Schipperke, Fox Terrier, Jack Russel Terrier, English Pointer, Cane Corso etc.
- There is a special event lined up for this year’s show for the pet owners of Jamshedpur. The top 8 dogs of Jamshedpur will be ranked from Best in Show to 8th Best in Show. They will be declared the best of Jamshedpur Local Dogs.
- The special Highlights for this year’s show is the panel of judges. They are the best of best from all over the world. All the judges are FCI certified. Most of them are regular judges of the World Dog Show. Each one of them are pioneers in breed development of some of the breeds they specialize in.
