Jamshedpur, Aug 31: Armed criminals looted cash, jewelry and a mobile phone from one Shikha Mishra near Mango Chowk on Tuesday in broad daylight.
Sources said the woman had gone to bring Lord Ganesha’s idol and other puja items from the market around 5 pm. As she walked towards Shaligram Sweets from Niranjan Singh Complex, motorcycle-borne youths stopped her and asked her to give her ornaments, cash and mobile phone to her while pointing a gun at her. Within minutes, the culprits fled with the ornaments, cash worth Rs 5000 and her mobile phone, sources said.

Shikha later went to Mango police station and submitted a written complaint. She alleged that police kept her sitting at the police station till 10 pm and delayed lodging the FIR. She said the criminals had looted ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh from her.
Local BJP leader Vikas Singh said Mango had become a safe haven for criminals as loot crimes were on the rise. Criminals had looted cash from Bank of India, Dimna branch recently, he said, adding further that he would meet the SSP of Jamshedpur to seek improvement in policing.
