Jamshedpur: Speakers blaring in high decibel for past one week went silent with the deadline for the election campaigning to second phase of Assembly election coming to an end this afternoon.
After road shows to padh yatra and from distributing pamphlets to door to door campaigns, political parties on Thursday embarked on motorcycle rallies in the city.
Congress Jamshedpur West candidate Banna Gupta wooed electorates by rallies. Bike rallies, he felt was an easy means to attract attention in the crowded localities of Mango.
�I wanted to personally mingle with people so that they know me and I can also gauge their aspiration and expectation. I have focused more on padyatras but on last day we decided to take out bike rally,� said Gupta.
BJP candidate from Jamshedpur East Raghubar Das also hit streets sitting on a bike. Jharkhand Vikas Morcha also took out motorcycle rally in different parts of the city. In areas like Sakchi and Mango
the leaders got down from the vehicle at several points to meet the people, particularly the womenfolk and sought support for the party candidate.
The second phase polling for 14 seats will be held on December 7 in Baharagora, Ghatshila (ST), Potka (ST), Jugsalai (SC), Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Seraikella (ST), Chaibasa (ST), Majhgaon (ST), Jaganathpur (ST), Manoharpur (ST), Chakradharpur (ST), Kharsawan and Kolebira (ST).
A total of 1617400 voters will decide the fate of these candidates. A total of 1630 polling booths will be set up for the voting comprising 225 at Bahragora, 252 at Ghatshila, 279 at Potka, 318 at Jugsalai, 264 at Jamshedpur East and 292 at Jamshedpur West. Moreover, 7784 polling personnel will be involved in process of voting. A total of 990 at Bahragora, 1109 at Ghatshila, 1228 at Potka, 1399 at Jugsalai, 1452 at Jamshedpur East and 1606 at Jamshedpur.
