Jamshedpur, May 13: The district administration has demolished four houses and cleared 17 sieges built on government land near Gadda College under Parsudih police station. The operation was carried out on Saturday with the help of bulldozers and circle office personnel. There was no protest during the demolition. However, several families have been left homeless and stranded on the road following the action.
According to Vishal, one of the affected house owners, he was not given any notice before the demolition. He had purchased the land from a local resident a year ago for Rs 2.50 lakh per kattha and was unaware that the land belonged to the government. He had started building the house a month ago.
On the other hand, CI Himmatlal Mahto of the Zonal Office, who was present during the demolition, stated that the land in question belonged to Bihar government with plot number 564 and account number 1340. The Deputy Commissioner had ordered the encroachment to be removed, and a team was formed for the same purpose. Notices were sent to everyone from the Zonal Office, but no one had identified themselves during the notice period, resulting in notices being pasted in the name of unknown individuals on their homes. The administration’s action has raised concerns about the welfare of those who have been displaced due to the demolition. The affected families are left without a roof over their heads and have been forced to live on the road
