Income Tax team inspects Madhu Koda residence on tip-off

Ranchi: Income Tax department sleuths ran an inspection drive at the residence of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and his wife and Lok Sabha candidate of Jai Bharat Samanata Party Gita Koda on Wednesday.

Sources said the I-T team had got a tip-off about a heavy amount of cash having reached the residence of the Kodas. Police officials guarded the house of the Kodas late yesterday night under supervision of the election expenses observer.

The Election Commission expenses observer reached the house this morning to conduct monitoring. He took stock of the findings and returned. The vehicle of Madhu Koda was inspected when the latter moved out of his house. The school bags of children coming out of the apartment were also checked by police personnel. Later I-T officials reached Kodas� residence and began probe.

Sources said the belongings of each and every person entering and exiting the building was done by the I-T and EC officials.

The former CM termed the inspection as a conspiracy of his opponents. He said rival parties were unnecessarily bothering him by lodging complaints against him in a bid to disconcert him ahead of elections.
