Seraikela, Oct 29: The Seraikela – Kharsawan district administration has launched a major crackdown against illegal mining activities within the Dalma Eco-Sensitive Zone in Chandil, taking decisive action to curb environmental violations.

The operation was conducted by a joint team of the district administration, forest department, and local police.

During the raid, several illegal stone stockpiles and mining materials were seized from multiple locations falling under the restricted Dalma region.

The team also seized machinery and vehicles allegedly used in illegal extraction and transportation of stones.

Officials said that the mining activities were being carried out without valid licenses, posing a serious threat to the ecological balance of the Dalma range—home to rich biodiversity and protected wildlife.

The seized materials have been handed over to the forest department for further legal proceedings.

A senior forest official said, “We are committed to protecting the Dalma Eco-Sensitive Zone from any form of illegal mining or encroachment. Strict legal action will be taken against those involved.”

Local sources indicated that similar operations will continue in the coming days to completely dismantle the illegal mining network operating in the region.

The administration has also issued a stern warning to stone traders and transporters against carrying out any activity without prior environmental clearance.

This latest action underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the Dalma wildlife area and preserve its fragile ecosystem from unregulated human interference.
