Jamshedpur: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a weather advisory warning of heavy rainfall in isolated pockets over the southwestern parts of Jharkhand, along with thunderstorms and lightning in various areas across the state.
According to the forecast, these weather conditions are expected to impact the region on July 9 and again on July 11. Jamshedpur and several parts of Kolhan and central Jharkhand have already experienced overnight showers, with more rainfall likely to continue over the next two days.
Meteorological officials attributed the unsettled weather to a low-pressure area persisting over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining regions, coupled with an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. This system is projected to move slowly west-northwestwards across Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh.
Additionally, the monsoon trough at mean sea level currently stretches from Bhatinda through Rohtak, Kanpur, Daltonganj, and the centre of the low-pressure zone, before reaching the northeast Bay of Bengal. The trough extends upwards to about 0.9 km above mean sea level, contributing to the widespread rain activity.
Authorities have urged residents, especially in the southwestern districts, to stay alert, monitor official weather updates, and take necessary precautions to mitigate risks from heavy downpours, lightning, and potential waterlogging.
