Jamshedpur: The Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a weather alert for Jharkhand, forecasting heavy rain in isolated areas across the state over the next 72 hours. This comes as a result of a low-pressure area and an associated cyclonic circulation persisting over north Bangladesh and its surrounding regions, which is expected to influence weather conditions in Jharkhand.
According to the IMD, the low-pressure area currently situated over north Bangladesh and its neighborhood remains stationary, with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 9.4 kilometers above mean sea level. This weather system is projected to move nearly westward, impacting West Bengal over the next 24 hours.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level is a significant factor contributing to the expected heavy rains. As of today, the monsoon trough stretches from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan to Rohtak, Orai, Siddhi, Gaya, and the center of the low-pressure area over north Bangladesh, continuing east-southeast words to the northeast Bay of Bengal. This trough extends up to 0.9 kilometers above the mean sea level, indicating a substantial influence on the current weather pattern across the region.

The IMD’s forecast for the coming days includes heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning in several parts of Jharkhand. This alert is particularly crucial for residents and local authorities as it highlights areas that could experience sudden, intense downpours and potentially hazardous conditions.
Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in the northern and southern parts of Jharkhand. The IMD has urged residents in these areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent accidents and damage.

The weather department forecasts heavy rainfall at isolated places in the north-western and adjoining parts of the state. These regions should prepare for possible flooding and waterlogging, which could disrupt daily activities and transportation.
August 25: Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in the north-eastern and adjoining central parts of the state. Authorities are advised to monitor water levels in rivers and reservoirs, as the heavy rain could lead to an increase in water flow and potential overflow in these areas.
August 26: The forecast indicates heavy rainfall at isolated places over the north-western and south-eastern parts of Jharkhand. The local administration is recommended to be on alert and ensure that emergency services are prepared for any weather-related incidents.
