Jamshedpur, Sept 13: Traffic was thrown out of gear in Kolabira following continuous rain since Wednesday night. Roads, drains and culverts were submerged in rain water. As a result, the vehicular flow on the Seraikela-Kandra main road remained affected for several hours. Due to absence of alternative route, residents and commuters stayed off road for several hours. The marketplaces were also found to be devoid of shoppers as many shops remained closed.
Local residents said the water level of Kharkai, Sanjay and Sona rivers had gone up considerably in the last several hours. Traffic on Kolabira culvert was disrupted for over four hours. By 4 pm, the traffic regained normalcy.
Water also accumulated in Kolabira Upgraded High School. A similar situation was seen at the Collectorate. The rains however brought smiles on the faces of farmers as they are hopeful of a good paddy crop this year.
