Gulmohur High School’s young innovators excel at NIT Jamshedpur

Smart grid project wins acclaim at Industry Academia Conclave 2025

Jamshedpur, Dec 13: Gulmohur High School has brought laurels to the city after its Class 8 student team secured an impressive 5th position at the national-level Industry Academia Conclave 2025 held at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur. The young team competed against senior school teams from across the country, earning wide appreciation for their innovation and technical skills.

The prestigious conclave witnessed participation from more than 600 school teams in the preliminary round. After a rigorous screening process, only 101 teams were shortlisted and invited to showcase their projects on the NIT Jamshedpur campus. Following detailed technical evaluation, live demonstrations and interactions with an expert jury, the Gulmohur High School team finished among the top 10 teams nationwide. The team received a Consolation Prize of Rs 10,000, awarded to just ten teams during the conclave.

The award-winning project featured a fully functional Microgrid and Smart Grid model. It demonstrated intelligent energy distribution, blackout simulation with automatic microgrid activation, renewable energy integration, predictive load balancing and priority-based power routing. The model highlighted practical applications in grid resilience, disaster preparedness and energy security, showcasing advanced thinking well beyond the middle-school level.

The project was led by team leader Akshat Sarkar, who handled system design, integration and the final presentation. He was supported by team members Aditya Kumar Nath, Shivansh Pandey and Vaibhav Anand, whose technical inputs and teamwork played a key role in the success.

Expressing pride in the achievement, Principal Priti Sinha said the performance reflected the school’s focus on experiential and future-ready education. She noted that excelling on a national platform hosted by NIT Jamshedpur demonstrated the students’ confidence, creativity and problem-solving abilities.
