New Delhi, Aug 30 (IANS) The Gujarat violence over job reservations that left 10 people dead shocked and pained the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday.
Describing the widespread disturbances as “hinsa ke thandav” (dance of death), he said in his Maan Ki Baat radio address that it was but natural for the country to be shocked and anguished if anything like this were to happen in the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel.
He said peace was now again prevailing in the state.
Large-scale violence enveloped Gujarat during protests by the Patel community demanding reservations in education and jobs.
