Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said the state government had tried its best to live up to the expectations of the people of Jharkhand during the first one year of its tenure. He said the government had worked hard despite all odds and had done a lot on the development front in such a short time.
He said the government would try to achieve its target in whatever time was left before the forthcoming Assembly election in the state. Soren was addressing a state function organized to mark the completion of one year of the state government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress ruling alliance.
The function was organized in the Aryabhatta Auditorium of Ranchi University. Many dignitaries graced the occasion along with the citizens. The CM handed over appointment letters to several national and international level players of the state under the direct appointment scheme of the state government.
He also gave appointment letters to assistant teachers, Urdu teachers and newly appointed employees of cooperative banks. Besides he handed cheques of Rs 3 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh as honorarium to meritorious students who had secured irst, second and third position in the Matriculation and Intermediate Board examinations of the state.
Soren gave land lease papers to 30 Naxalites who had laid down their arms before the state police under the surrender policy of the state government. Lease was also given to 570 others. A souvenir on the achievements of the state government in its one year tenure was released by the CM. Appointment letters for direct appointment were given to hockey player Bigan Soy, archer Mangal Singh Champiya and kabaddi player Vindhyavasini Singh for the post of sub inspector.
The CM said the govern- ment could not take major decisions for four to five months due to coming into effect of the Model Code of Conduct during Lok Sabha election. Still, the government provided employment pportunities to many youths of the state, he said.
He said the government had appointed doctors, teachers, players and many other professionals to ensure speedy progress of the state. The state finance minister Rajendra Prasad Singh said the state government done what previous governments had not done in the last 13 yars.
He said the state will become self reliant in the field of power production by the year 2015. He said a lot of work was done in the field of health in the state in the last one year. He said super specialty hospitals were opened in the state.
As many as 200 doctors were regularized in the state besides the recruitment of 175 doctors, he said. Former CM and JMM president Sibu Soren and state Cabinet ministers were also present on the occasion along with senior bureaucrats of the state.
