Jamshedpur: A 15 year-old girl student of St Xavier’s High School at Chaibasa� ccommitted suicide by hanging at her house at Patahatu under Muffasil police station Chaibasa in West Singhbhum� on Saturday morning.
The deceased, Jyoti Bari, committed suicide allegedly after being tortured by one of the fathers of the school.
The police have today registered a case on the FIR lodged by the deceased’s mother Lilamati Bari and have started probing into the circumstances that forced the girl to end life.
In the FIR, Lilamati has mentioned that her daughter who was a student of class X had gone to school on Friday morning despite being sick.
“The father tortured her and she ended her life. The class teacher had taken her to the sick-room of the school. But after school she returned to the school she (Jyoti) started crying and on being asked she said that father had tortured her and had snatched her school bag while she was at the sick-room,” Lilabati has said in the FIR.
According to the FIR, as the deceased did not say anything clearly except that a father tortured her, her elder sister went over to the St Xavier High School taking her along in the evening and contacted one of the fathers for knowing what had meted out to Jyoti. The father said he will let her know only on Monday.
