Jamshedpur, April 17: A gang of seven bike-borne criminals entered the house of a youth at Road No 6 in Ramnagar under Kadma police station area late on the Wednesday night opened fire.
The attackers, one of whom identified as Bittu Gwala, who was released from jail a month ago had fired two shots at the victim, Shivnath Kumar. The shots missed and hit the wall of the victim’s house.
The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Bittu Gwala, Sumit Kumar and five others on the FIR lodged by Shivnath. The police said that the dispute revolves around dispute over Facebook comment done by the victim.
OC, Kadma police station Ranjeet Kumar confirmed about the case, but said that all the seven persons went missing after launching attack.
“We are investigating the incident. Though all the attackers have fled the area, we are trying to arrest them by carrying out raids at the houses of the two named accused,” said Kumar.
The OC pointed out that for identifying the rest of the attackers they are trying to find out CCTV footage. He said a police team had visited the place where incident took place and by talking to the victims and people in the neighbourhood that the attackers had fired two shots. He pointed out they have even recovered an empty cartridge from the spot.
Kumar, when queried, said the reason behind the quarrel was a Facebook comment that the victim had posted involving the names of Bittu Gwala.
According to sources, Bittu Gwala has a criminal past and he has been released on bail from the Ghaghidih Central Jail a month ago.
According to a neighbour, the accused had come on four bikes near Shivnath’s house had called him to come out of the home. As the victim came out, Bittu Gwala abused the former and subsequently fished out a pistol. As the victim came out and entered into the house at the sight of youths near his house, Bittu Gwala fired two shots in the wall of the house and fled the spot.
