Jamshedpur: GalvaNext 2026, an international conference on galvanized and colour-coated steels, will be held on January 8–9, 2026, at Taj Vivanta Jamshedpur, bringing together leading global experts from the steel, coatings, and metallurgical sectors.
The conference is being jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Jamshedpur Chapter, in association with Tata Steel Limited, CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory, the International Zinc Association (IZA), and the India Lead Zinc Development Association (ILZDA).
GalvaNext 2026 is witnessing strong international participation from industry leaders, academia, and technology providers. Major steel producers, including Tata Steel, JSW, AMNS (India), Arcelor (USA), and HBIS (China), along with global technology suppliers such as John Cockerill, Andritz, Lamiflex, EMG, Bruker, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Jeol, and MSME partners, will share insights on the latest developments in galvanizing and color coating technologies.
Leading academic and research institutions such as Harvard University (USA), CentraleSupélec (France), IIT Kanpur, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Jodhpur, and IIT Jammu will also be represented, strengthening industry–academia collaboration.
With growing demand for advanced, sustainable coating solutions, the conference will focus on emerging challenges and innovations shaping the future of coated steel products. Key themes include galvanizing of Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS), Zn-Al-Mg and other alloy coatings, color coating innovations, corrosion and durability studies, sustainability, and circularity.
The two-day event will feature keynote lectures by international experts, technical sessions, panel discussions on industry challenges, and an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technologies. Selected abstracts will be invited for full paper submission to the journal Materials Science and Technology for a special issue on galvanized and color-coated steels.
One of the highlights of GalvaNext 2026 will be guided visits to a continuous galvanizing line and a state-of-the-art galvanized simulator, offering participants hands-on exposure to modern coating processes. Beyond technical exchange, the conference is set to provide a strong platform for networking, collaboration, and advancing sustainable solutions for a greener and more durable steel industry.
