From Cycle Shop to Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue: Chandan Kumar’s Inspiring Leap

Hazaribagh (IANS): Chandan Kumar, a talented youth from the Kora locality in Hazaribagh, is preparing to present his vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chandan has been selected for the prestigious Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue 2026, being held from January 9 to 12 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Jharkhand Youth on a National Platform

At the national-level dialogue, Chandan will share his ideas on Aatmanirbhar Bharat, representing not only Hazaribagh but the entire state of Jharkhand. The event will be attended by top policymakers, experts, and thought leaders, giving young participants an opportunity to directly contribute to the country’s long-term vision.

From Bicycle Repair Shop to Engineering Graduate

Chandan Kumar’s journey is a story of determination and perseverance. A meritorious student, he once helped his father at a small bicycle repair shop, fixing punctures to support the family. He has since completed his engineering degree from Vinoba Bhave University and is currently undergoing training at NTPC.

Rigorous Selection Process

Chandan’s selection for the Young Leaders’ Dialogue came after a multi-stage national selection process, making the achievement even more significant. His participation is being viewed as a strong and inspiring voice from Jharkhand on the national stage.

Vision for Aatmanirbhar Bharat

Chandan’s chosen theme is “Aatmanirbhar Bharat: Make in India, Make for the World.” He believes self-reliance goes beyond manufacturing and focuses on creating high-quality products with global relevance.
“What matters is not just what we produce, but the quality and global demand for our products. That is how India can truly become self-reliant,” he said. He also noted that ideas presented at the dialogue are compiled and considered during policy formulation, making it a meaningful platform for students.

Family’s Pride and Emotional Journey

The achievement has filled Chandan’s family with pride. His father Bablu Kumar, who runs a bicycle repair shop despite being a graduate, recalled the family’s struggle with poverty to educate their children. He also mentioned that Chandan’s sister was honoured at Bharat Mandapam last year, making it a moment of double pride for the family.
“This bicycle shop brought us here,” he said, crediting hard work and perseverance.

Inspiration for Jharkhand’s Youth

Chandan continues to help his father at the shop whenever possible. His sister Payal Kumari said that watching her brother speak on the country’s biggest platform would be a moment of immense joy for the family.

According to information, 30 students from Jharkhand have been selected for the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue 2026, where they will present ideas on various themes. Among them, Chandan Kumar’s journey stands out as a powerful symbol of hope, humility, and determination.
