Former PM Vajpayee�s Asthi Kalash Yatra arrives in Jamshedpur

Ashes of the BJP veteran to be immersed today in Swarnarekha river at Ghatsila

Jamshedpur: Hundreds of people attended the Asthi Kalash Yatra of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the city on Thursday. The kalash carrying the ashes of the former PM was brought to Jamshedpur all the way from Ranchi. It arrived in Chowka at 4 pm. The immersion of the former PM�s ashes will take place on the banks of Swarnarekha river in Maubhandar, Ghatsila tomorrow, BJP leaders said.

Seraikela-Kharsawan BJP president Uday Singhdeo handed over the kalash to Jamshedpur BJP president Dinesh Kumar. A huge crowd had gathered at the Adityapur bridge. BJP leaders, party workers and supporters accompanied the kalash through various city streets and reached the BJP office in Sakchi. A condolence meet was held at the BJP office thereafter.

Members of various political and social organizations paid homage to late Vajpayee on this occasion. The condolence meet was held from 8 pm till 11 pm. A large pandal was built outside the BJP office. JVM leader Abhay Kumar was also present along with others.

Earlier, during the procession, people showered flower petals on the vehicle carrying the kalash and raised slogans venerating the late BJP leader.
The organizations that participated in the procession included Marwari Yuva Manch, Jharkhand State Khadi Board, Atal Sena, Jaisawal Samaj, Jamshedpur Chamber of Commerce, Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad and Dukandar Sangh, Sakchi.
