No entry timing creates controversy, transporters and citizens meet DC

Jamshedpur: Transporters and members of Mango Nagar Vikas Samiti have locked horns on the issue of implementing no entry orders for heavy vehicles in the city.

While the transporters have asked the district administration to do away with the no entry order for heavy vehicles, the outfit members have demanded that entry of heavy vehicles should be banned.

Sources said the controversy arose after the district administration issued an order banning entry of heavy vehicles into the city from 6 am till 10 pm till 16th August. The order was passed only a few days back. This has led the transporters of the city to demand revocation of the no entry order on the ground that it would adversely affect transportation business.

A delegation of Jamshedpur Transport Welfare Association and Jamshedpur Truck and Trailer Owner Welfare Association met the deputy commissioner Dr Amitabh Kaushal demanding removal of the no entry order. They said they were facing tough times due to the no entry timing. They said the administration should consider the plea of transporters from the point of view of business as well as humanity.

Meanwhile, Mango Nagar Vikas Samiti president Vijay Tiwary said the administration had done a commendable job by banning entry of heavy vehicles in the city from 6 am till 10 pm. He said the entry of heavy vehicles should be permanently disallowed for the safety of city people. He said heavy vehicles should not be allowed entry in the city as it caused traffic problems.

The transporters who met the DC included Uday Singh, Baldev Singh, Suresh Agrawal, Ravindra Singh, Mahendra Seni, Dhananjay Singh, Kashmir Singh and Ashok Singh.
