Ensure timely availability of ration rice, no poor should go hungry: Seraikela DC

Saraikela, July 21: A meeting was convened at the Town Hall where the Deputy Commissioner of Saraikela-Kharsawan A Dodde addressed PDS shop owners directing them to ensure timely distribution of rice to the poor ration card holders so that they did not go to bed hungry. The economic bottom liners should not be deprived of ration cards he said.

A Dodde stated that he had received complaints during the Janata Darbar that some families in Kuchai and Ichagarh had yet to receive their Janata cards. �There are some affluent people who also are holding such ration cards. They are actually eating away the share of the poor and needy. Their ration cards will be cancelled,� stated the DC.

The meeting mainly revolved on Prime Minister�s Ujjwala Yojna and public distribution system. A Dodde said that a meeting would be called shortly to discuss the problems of PDS dealers.

Beneficiaries were provided gas connection at the venue. Among those present in the meeting included district vice president Ram Nath Mahto, officials of District Food and Civil Supplies Department, District Planning, Gamharia and Kuchai Block Food and Civil Supplies, SDO Chandil, Assistant Director Social Security Department and the Zila Parishad Director.
