Jamshedpur: An elderly Sikh man was assaulted by a shopkeeper and his son in Jugsalai on Friday. Following the incident the members of the Sikh community staged massive protest demanding immediate arresting of the accused. The victim was identified as Bhupendra Singh a resident of Jugsalai itself. The dispute started when the victim had went to his shop to inquire about Dr VK Agarwal whose cabin is located adjacent to the sweet shop.

The shopkeeper and his son beat up Bhupendra Singh for no reason. After he received sever blows, he fell unconscious. His turban was also thrown away. Members of the Sikh community took to street in protest against hurting religious sentiments. Sikhs started protesting over the incident and assaulted the shopkeeper and his son and started demanding their arrest.

On the information of commotion, Jugsalai police reached the spot. The shopkeeper’s son was taken into custody. After this, people of Sikh society reached Jugsalai police station and demanded the arrest of the shopkeeper.

QRT force was deployed in Jugsalai on anticipation of ruckus. The shopkeeper and his son also apologized.

There was a dispute between the shopkeeper and Bhupendra about something. Sensing the law and order situation, the police came into action soon after.
