Drug peddler held with 3.7 kg Ganja in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, city police arrested a notorious drug peddler from Baridih under the Sidhgora police station area this afternoon.
The accused was found in possession of over 3.7 kilograms of illegal ganja, valued at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh in the local market.
Acting on a tip-off received by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), officials swiftly constituted a special raiding team under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters-1).
The intelligence indicated that a man from Parsudih was roaming in the Baridih area with a significant quantity of contraband, allegedly in search of buyers.
During a targeted search operation near Baridih roundabout, police spotted a suspect matching the description heading towards Kashai Road. On noticing the police, he attempted to flee but was quickly chased down and apprehended.
The arrested individual has been identified as Pinku Karmakar alias Pusa (35), a resident of Makhdumpur in Parsudih. A search of his black backpack led to the recovery of three packets containing 3 kg 71 grams of ganja.
Police officials revealed that the accused has a prior criminal record, including involvement in a motorcycle theft case in Parsudih and a case under the NDPS Act in Amritsar, Punjab. During interrogation, he reportedly disclosed names of other members of the network.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
Further investigation is underway to dismantle the broader drug network.
