DC orders new ration card distribution within a week

Jamshedpur: District administration has planned to distribute new ration cards across various blocks of East Singhbhum within a week.

The deputy commissioner Amit Kumar made this announcement at a meeting convened to review food security affairs at the DC office on Saturday.

The DC said the new ration cards remaining for distribution will be handed to the beneficiaries through anganwadi sevikas and jan sevaks.

The ration due for the month of September will be distributed till 10th September.

Giving his report, district supply officer Dilip Tiwary said the task of Aadhar seeding of 92 per cent families was done. The remaining task will be carried out soon, he said.

Tiwary said a control room was being set up at the district level to oversee food security issues. District supply officer and rationing officer will monitor the work of the control room in their respective areas.

Speaking about bank account entries, officials said the accounts of around 195000 families had been seeded to Aadhaar.

The DC said the names of all beneficiaries should be clearly indicated in the prescribed colour in all public distribution system (PDS) shops.

The DC said the matters related to food supply were very sensitive and needed top priority. He said no person should be left out under the Food Supply Act.
